DEMARCHIS SERGISON TO HIGH-LIGHT FORMER BT SWITCHING CENTRE

Buckinghamshire based Demarchis Lighting Design+ have been appointed by regeneration specialists, MCD Developments, to design and implement a lighting scheme for the facade of a former BT switching centre in central Birmingham.

Brindley House was known as one of the ugliest buildings in Birmingham, but lighting designers Demarchis Sergison have designed a lighting scheme that will enhance the refurbished facade and transform it’s night-time exterior.

Mike O’Sullivan MCD director and project leader for Brindley House said:

“ MCD always takes a very holistic approach to its schemes, creating not just new apartments but homes that purchasers can feel proud of and enhance the surrounding environment. We’ve worked closely with Dermarchis Sergison to ensure Brindley House creates a real statement and on completion it will be a modern floodlit monument, visible and instantly recognisable from afar.”

The first phase of the building renovation, which will create 180 new apartments, is due by the end of summer 2007, with work on the facade due to commence at the end of the interior project.

Principal designer, Piero de Marchis says:  “This is a great high profile project to be involved with and we are very pleased to work with MCD.   Our specialist knowledge, creativity and choice of product is invaluable with this type of lighting design.  We look forward to creating a lighting scheme that will make Brindley House a highlight of Birmingham’s landscape.”
